Creating Your Life Map - Part One: Brainstorming

Where are you going in your life? Where is your journey taking you? Do you clearly know your purpose in life?

I’m going to be giving directions on how to complete a spiritual life map this week on the blog! I hope it helps you all navigate and see all the parts of your story that have shaped and formed you. Perhaps you will discover things you never really thought were important. Maybe your memories will help you to understand yourself better. Life maps help people begin to fit together all the pieces of their lives. I believe that if you have knowledge, understanding and awareness of your whole life—you will be able to journey with God in deeper places in the future. Each journey is vastly different and unique. This is the beauty of the masterpiece God is weaving together through the stories of the lives of His people. Your story matters.

To start, just brainstorm. This brainstorming could take some time so give yourself the time you will need. Make sure to freely write the details that come to mind. To start off with, use the one color of post-its (small size or cut the larger ones in half)—the other colors will be used later. So for now, grab some small post-its and get started. I’ll be back with more directions in a couple of days. Here are some ideas to help you start the brainstorming session! For now, just create the notes—don’t worry about the arrangement or order. Also, it’s important to note that the details you record on your notes are from YOUR lens of your life—not how others see it or would tell it. This is YOUR story.
