One of a Kind

How would your best friend describe you in three words?
How would you describe yourself in three words?
How do they compare?

I ask these questions because I'm not sure we realize that those we keep closest hold us in very high regard.  They know us quite intimately. And they still love us. Many times it is these people who have really encouraging and uplifting views of us. Sometimes we miss some of the most special and unique things about us, because we are too self-critical.  We measure ourselves through a lens that is too human.  Yes, we are human, but humans can be harsh, at times.  We lose the beautiful and most stand out characteristics of our selves/souls, because we are too busy letting negativity win over truth.

The next couple questions will reveal a lot to you, so take note for yourself personally. How would God describe you in three words knowing what you know about Him? What would He love most about you? What is it about you that is so undeniably uniquely you?  This is the part of you that the world needs. And it is probably lined up with some of your passions.  Some of us might believe that what we offer isn't anything special.  Perhaps no one even knows this side of you. The fact is that God made one you. For a reason. For His purposes.

The etymology of the word unique states that it means “one, single, only one of its kind.” This is you. This is what you offer.

God made us all so different yet so the same. He gave us all gifts, talents, and abilities.  He made us dreamers and lovers and leaders and makers. Now He waits to see how we respond, how we will continue to create our given stories.  He is cheering us on, waiting until He gets to see us again face to face.

He made one you. I pray that you will offer your most unique self to a world that is waiting. You are His - one of a kind.

Scripture: For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. (Psalm 139: 13-14)

Reflection:

Spend some time reflecting on your unique self.

Create something reminding you of who you are that you can display as a daily reminder. (Use your imagination and creative juices! We are all different so do what represents you.)

Display your creation in a place where you’ll see it daily.
