Grounded In Victory

I know that I am living victoriously if all of me is grounded in God’s truth and love for me. That’s a loaded statement so let me unpack it a little bit.

Our days are filled with battles. We live in the world. The world has a lot of darkness in it if we’re real about it. Just look around. Also, because we are sinners, our hearts have darkness in them as well and the only thing that makes them clean is Jesus. So we’re up against a lot if we want to live in the victory. We each have our own stories and it’s wise to take some time to reflect on what battles you are fighting currently. Awareness is a weapon that that Enemy hates. So, I’m going to coach you to become an aware person—aware of your heart and your story, aware of your surroundings and aware of your honest struggles. And then I’m going to coach you to get equipped. If you’re aware and equipped you can fight your battles with the King of Kings.

When I think about the fact that the victory has already been given to me—I feel like there is a responsibility to live that out each day…otherwise I’m missing the MORE that Jesus has for me. If I’m living defeated am I really calling on everything that He says is true? Am I letting the Enemy win a battle that he’s already lost if I really think about it?

We are fighting for victory daily from a place of victory that has already been won. Spiritual victory is secure. Now we need to live out of that. There is so much that would try to take us from that place, though, right? How does this play out in your own life?

I made a list this week that outlines what I’m doing if I’m living victoriously in life. I thought it might help if I shared it. Keep in mind—we’re human and we’re not supposed to be perfect so on any given day one of these might be off—but it’s the discipline of being attentive, awake and aware and striving to live out of these places and claiming the gift of victory that matters. This consistent routine reminds me that I’m not in this alone—I never have been.

If you’ve received Jesus into your heart—you’ve been given a gift that is powerful beyond words. Now, let’s get our minds, bodies, and souls to align so we can live our lives out of our deepest truth instead of letting the Enemy hold us back from a freedom that is already ours.

Here’s my list that I jotted down in my journal this week.

I’M LIVING VICTORIOUSLY IF:

-I do not live hidden. I live in the light. I am honest with God, myself and others and share what is going on inside. I believe that I am worthy of being heard and loved. I am seen by God and others.

-I speak to myself (self-talk) like I love myself. I uplift myself and others. I do not tear down. I encourage. I do not speak words of discouragement to myself or others.

-I speak with a voice of boldness. I speak what God nudges me to say courageously. I don’t hold back to protect myself.

-I believe that God knows me deeply and He loves all of me.

-I am in the Word daily and it is a priority. The Word is a sword that helps me fight battles with truth and strength.

-I talk to God throughout the day. I do not distance from Him. He is my closest friend. He wants to hear from Me.

-I am confident. Because of God.

-I walk and live in faith. I believe what God says is true. I believe He has my life in His hands. He is working on my behalf.

-I trust. God and others.

-I take risks.

-I run towards the fears that usually hold me back.

-I know I am redeemed and live like it. (This is a big one and I think the Enemy gets so many of us on this one often!)

-I serve God by serving others.

-I prioritize rest. I do not see my worth in doing. I see my worth in God’s definition of me. I don’t have to live a crazy busy life to get ahead. I am right where I need to be if I’m aligned with God.

-I am a warrior. This looks really different for each person. You can define it for your own life. I know what it means for mine.

-I glean wisdom from my experiences and from those older than me.

-I live grounded and I will do what I need to do to make space for that each day.

-I prepare myself for what is to come. Acts of preparation are huge. If you know challenges are coming do what you need to do to get prepared with God beforehand.

-I live for eternity. If you know where you’re headed—live that way. Prepare for that!

-I live surrounded. I do not isolate myself. Community is key. God surrounds me always as well—I live like He does.

-I know I am protected by God. No form of evil used against me can touch me or harm me.

-I am accountable. Find others who will walk with you and help you with accountability as you grow and change and even walk through trials.

-I live with a brave spirit. If you are trusting, bold, and courageous—you will live out of a new place—a place of bravery.

-Personal and spiritual growth are a necessary goal in your life.

-I am taking care of myself—my whole person. Mind, body and soul.

-I know truth and I claim it—all day long.

-I celebrate small victories.

-I walk closely with God. I am not alone.

-I live with a free soul that is not bound.

-I am not afraid to ask for help when I need it. I am not invincible. I am broken and in the process of being repaired. I need others. I need God.

-I live as God’s child—dependent on Him.

-I follow God. And then step forward in faith to lead others.

Spend some time making your own list! It was empowering to list what I want to live like each day. It will take some personal reflecting and your list will probably look different—but that’s ok—we are all unique! I pray that these words will challenge you to live from a new place inside of you—the place where victory resides.
